I have been seeing many videos on social media pertaining to the perfect foundation. I am wondering…if I hadn’t spent decades in the beauty industry, would I have ordered one of those foundations? Maybe, it’s so appealing. This is what they don’t tell you in the ads for the various products you are seeing.
The right foundation for you has several components.
- You want to get the right formula. If you have dry skin, you may not like a matte finish, a luminous finish might be better. Conversely, if your skin is oily, matte would be a good choice for you.
- That’s essential. Is your skin tone pink, olive, or neutral? You don’t want to determine that answer from the bridge of your nose or your cheeks. If you matched your foundation to that area, you would have a line along your jawline. Always match your foundation to the color of your jawline.
- Always use a foundation primer. It fills in fine lines and pores and your foundation will look amazingly smooth and natural, like breathable skin.
- A good foundation brush is key. If you painted your walls with your fingers, you would get textured walls. If you use a brush, you will get a much smoother read.
- I always start with my foundation on the back of my hand. I dab the foundation brush into the product and start in the middle of my cheek. That way, I have the space to spread the product out. Same with my forehead. Start in the middle and work the foundation toward your hairline. I like a circular motion with the brush. It blends beautifully, giving you that clean natural look that most of us desire.
